This is How I started a website.
When I go on websites, I don’t think much of it. But since I own one now.
I understand how much time and effort you need in sustaining a site. The work is never ending and requires constant updating.
At first I didn’t know what I was doing. I was so scared thinking everything was a scam. I didn’t know what to think, I just knew I wanted to make a website.
But then I go surfing the web and see all these sites that have thousands and thousands of links and I’m like Jesus Christ man, everything you click on is a damn link. That’s a ton of work, and then it shuts me down.
I get so sad because I wana be like that right now, but I don’t know how to do it, and I don’t wana do it either because it’s a lot.
..But guess what, I still made one. And I’m here to tell you websites don’t need to be long. A matter of fact, don’t even think of “how much” or “how long” something should be in the first place. Get that out of your head because it’s going to overwhelm the hell out of you.
What’s important is “what” you want to build. Not ..how much, but “what”.
Once you know this question, everything else will naturally fall into place once your passion takes over. Now finally, let me begin on telling you how I started this website
On December 25, 2020 during Christmas I decided to purchase a website from www.weebly.com.
When you buy a website, what you’re buying is a URL domain name like.. (www.yournamehere.com) ..and the actual website itself. And depending on which package you choose, the result can only take you so far - Meaning, if you choose a beginner package, you won’t get the full or unlimited features as getting the pro or elite package, get me?
So to get back to what I was saying, I think I purchased the Professional package which comes out to $144 for the year or $12/mo.
I paid the full price $144, I'm not sure if you can pay monthly, maybe you can. You have to give them a call or speak with their live chat for that kind of information. (Update: yes you can pay month to month)
But after creating my account and signing in, it brought me to the editor immediately. I started messing around dragging and dropping widgets not knowing what the heck I was doing, but I kept doing it and it turned out to be fun.
I put a lot of time into making the page www.thebestdamninfo.com/investing-stocks.html and it took forever. I don’t know anything about making a website, I still don’t, but I’m learning every day as I go and Weebly makes it possible for me to create.
I think the web page www.thebestdamninfo.com seems like a good enough example to qualify as "what does a Weebly website looks like", don’t you think?
Believe me, in the beginning, I was chatting with their live chat almost everyday the first month. One assistant sent me a link to Weebly’s guides and it was like opening a damn breakthrough. When she sent me that, I was thinking holy crap I didn’t even know you guys had this information. It’s like you’re showing me secrets right now. It was great.
The link showed a bunch of step by step guides and videos on how to use the editor to set up your tags, titles, and page descriptions in the settings to get it ready for google search, and a whole lot more.
Those features of having seo, unlimited memory to your site, email marketing etc, will all be included in the package details. See plans and features here.
Overall Weebly is very good. You’ll find that, the more you use it, the more tricks you’ll pick up when designing your web page. Designing is literally endless. It’s like you’re playing the game mine craft or something. But Given the circumstances of my boring and lazy mind, I don’t have the experience or knowledge of coding or making a website look cool with graphics and stuff, but slowly and surely I’ll learn more and more. Until then, I’m glad for Weebly's opportunity to allow me to unleash all my creativity on this beautiful platform.
I recently just read that they are teaming up with Square, so that's interesting. Makes me look forward to seeing what kind of “new” additions will be added to the settings and editor of Weebly once they merge. I can’t wait for that.
What I don't Like
There is a couple things I don’t like about Weebly though, and I guess it’s the loading speed of the editor when you drag widgets to the page. But it might just be the fact that I have so much stuff on one single page is why it takes a second to load up.
Other than that, I wish they end up reading this whole blog and get my opinion on this one feature I'm about to recommend for editing your webpage because I’m a user of Weebly and love it, but what if the user made like a small section with text and images on a page and you want that section to get copied and moved to every single page.
Maybe there could be a feature where the user can highlight the area, double click and cover the section, or “square” out the section you want and copy/move it to any page you want instead of having to re-create or copy each thing, one by one and move it, one by one to other pages.
I found ways to create a section and place all content inside that section and copying to all my pages, but you still have to copy each item which is time consuming. Either way, the reward is still a good pay off.
Hopefully Weebly hears my feedback on that, I think that would really be a huge benefit to exiting customers and potential customers reading this blog now. I use Weebly a lot and that would save so much time in designing.
Hopefully you guys like this blog.
Welcome to my blog.
